Good morning/afternoon, honorable experts/teachers. I’m very glad to stand here to share my teaching ideas about section A/B of Unit… Now I’m going to expound my topic from 5 parts.

Part oneAnalysis of the Teaching Material(教材分析)

1.Status and function(地位和作用)

This lesson is a dialogue/reading, its topic is… It’s helpful to improve Ss’ communicative/ reading ability. And it is useful for Ss to learn the knowledge after.

2.Teaching aims and demands(教学目标.)

1) knowledge objects(知识目标)

a. Enable Ss to master the new words & phrases(单词、短语) “…”

b. Help them to understand the new sentence pattern(句型) “…”

2) ability objects(能力目标)

a. Help Ss to improve four skills

b. Develop their ability of thinking independently

c. Cultivate their ability of using English in livelihood

3) moral objects (情感目标)

a. Arouse Ss’ interest in learning English

b. Develop their team spirit and the ability of communication

Part TwoTeaching Methods(教法)

Five step teaching method(五步教学法), intensive teaching and skilful practice(精讲巧练), from easier to the more advanced(由易到难), from the known to the unknown (由已知到未知),proceeding in an orderly way and step by step(循序渐进), taking Ss as the main part in teaching activities.(学生为主体)

Part ThreeLearning Methods(学法)

1.preparing lessons before claand studying with questions

2.listening carefully in cla

3.taking notes

4.reviewing learned knowledge frequently

Part FourTeaching aids(教具)

multi-media computer, projector, radio, pictures, etc.

Part FiveTeaching Procedures(教学步骤)

Step 1Warming up/lead-in

Sing/play a song or play a game before starting class, it can excite Ss’ interest. Then, use the multi-media computer to show some pictures or videos containing information of the new lesson, it is useful for Ss to remember the new words easily.

Step 2Presentation

Set up a series of tasks for Ss to help them learn how to use the new words, phrases and sentence patterns. Develop their abilities of thinking independently and expressing their own ideas bravely.

Step 3Dialogue/Reading

1.pre-reading (prediction)

1st listening/fast reading, one guided question to help Ss to get the main idea of the conference/text

2.while-reading (read and answer)

2nd listening/intensive reading, some more questions to help Ss to get more information. Let Ss pay attention to the pronunciation and streof the key words. Develop Ss’ four skills and cooperative learning abilities in groups through these activities such as Predicting, T or F, Fill in a form, Make a chart/diagram, Make a timeline, Make a story map, etc. Help Ss to have a good understanding of the whole conference/text.

3.post-reading (key points focus)

Focus on the key points

Step 4Practice

retelling, acting out, role play

Step 5Summarizing

Let Ss discuwhat they learned in this lesson and collect their answers to form a report.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, it’s my great honor to be here to present my teaching ideas; (I’m contestant number___,) and my topic is_________. My presentation is composed of five parts; now please allow me to introduce them one by one.

Part One. Analysis of teaching material

Here I will analyze this part from 3 points:

The first point is “Status and functions”

This unit is taken from a book of New Senior English for China, and my lecture is the reading part of it. By learning this passage, the students can master some language points and reading skills.

The second point is “Teaching aims”

Firstly, Knowledge aims: The students should remember all the key words and expressions

Secondly, Ability aimis to improve the students’ ability of getting the main idea and

detailed information of this passage.

Thirdly, Emotional aims:to enable the students___________________________________.

The third point is “importances and difficulties. The important points are some useful words and phrases such as__________.The difficult points mainly focus on how to develop the students’ reading ability.Now let’s come to the next part.

Part Two. Analysis of the learners

As Senior High School students, most of my students have got a good way of learning and a strong desire of seeking knowledge, however, some of them are very shy and they seldom participate in claactivities. So in order to activate my students, I will adopt some teaching and learning approaches in my class. So next, let’s come to Part three.

Part Three. Teaching & learning approaches

In order to realize the principal that students will be centered, I will adopt Task-based Language teaching method; and my students are supposed to apply Cooperative learning method. In addition, I also need some teaching aids including a blackboard, a computer and some PPT files. Now let’s come to the most important part of my lecture.

Part Four. Teaching Procedures

In order to arrange my teaching procedures systematically and logically, I will divide my teaching procedures into 5 steps.

Step one is “Warming up” To start with, I will play an English song for my students because it can not only help them relax, but can also bring them into an English atmosphere.

Step Two is “Leading-in”It is said, “Well begun is half done”, so here, I will have a free talk with my students about__________________________________________________, thus leading my students to the topic we’re going to learn.

Step Three is “Reading”

First. Fast reading. Here I will ask my students to read the passage as quickly as possible, and then give them some T or F questions to see if they have a general understanding of this passage.

Second. Careful reading, here my students are supposed to read the passage very carefully, and discuwith their partners, then answer the following questions. By doing this, I can check whether my students have a detailed understanding of this passage.

Third. Consolidation. Here I will show my students a short passage with key words and phrases missing, and then ask some students to retell the passage by filling the blanks.

Step Four is “summary”Before the clais almost over, I will ask some students to summarize what they have learned in this class, and I will make some supplement in the end. Then the last step, of course, homework.

Step five. Homework As for the homework, the students should read the passage again and again and try to retell the passage. Now let’s come to the last part of my lecture: blackboard design.

Part Five. Blackboard Design

In order to make the blackboard design clearly and neatly, I will divide the blackboard into three parts. On the left, I’ll write teaching aims; in the middle of the blackboard, there should be important and difficult language points, and on the right, I will write the summary of this whole class. This part will be analyzed from 3 points:

The first point is “Status and functions”

According to English syllabus and new lesson standard, three teaching aims will be mentioned.

Firstly, Knowledge aimsstudents will understand and master the new words, expressions and sentence

patterns.

Secondly, Ability aimsstudents will enhance their reading abilities, such as abilities to get the main idea and

detailed information from the passage.

Thirdly, Emotional aimsstudents will ___________________________________

The third point is “teaching focus and difficulties. Teaching focus is to help students understand the whole passage and be able to talk about the travel in English .Teaching difficulties are the new words, expressions and difficult sentence patterns.

Part Two. Analysis of the learners

As Senior High School students, although they have acquired the basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, They still need more opportunities to practice what they have learned and to develop their autonomous learning ability and cooperative learning ability. So in order to promote students’ abilities, I will adopt the following teaching and learning approaches in my class. So next, let’s come to Part three.

Part Three. Teaching & learning approaches

To realize the principle that students must be centered, I will adopt Task-based teaching method and situational approach; while my students are supposed to apply Cooperative learning method. In addition, I also need some teaching aids, including a blackboard, a multi-media computer system and some PPT files. Now let’s get to the most important part of my lecture.

“Interest is the best teacher”, therefore, at the very beginning of the class, I should spark the students’ mind to focus on the central topic” travelling” .I will show the photos of some beautiful places on powerpoint ,then ask students:do you like travel? why do you like travel? After answering the questions, the students will be eager to know something about the passage, and this is the very time to naturally lead the clainto step2.

Step Two is “Reading”which contains four tasks

Task 1, reading for information: fast reading

Students will have two minutes to read the text as quickly as they can, and match the key words with each paragraphs. The purpose of this task is to develop students reading skills by quickly finding out the right answers.

I will use task-based teaching method, which can give students a clear and specific purpose while reading the passage quickly.

Task one :general idea

The students will be asked to just glance at the title, and then guewhat will read in the text. They’ll be divided into four groups to have a discussion.

The purpose of this task is to develop students reading skills by making prediction and encourage students to expretheir thoughts in English.

Task two: main idea of each paragraph

Cooperative learning can raise students’ interest and create an atmosphere of achievement. Based on this theory, I divide the whole clainto four groups, let them skim the whole text and discuthe main idea of each paragraph with other group members. Then choose a reporter to share their opinions with the whole class.

Task2reading for comprehension: careful reading

The purpose of reading is to get the correct and useful information. Students should not only have a high speed of reading, but also have a correct understanding of details. Therefore, the following practice can help solve the difficulty.

Students will be required to read the passage in details

Task3solving difficult language problems

When reading, students must come acrosome difficult language obstacles. so it’s necessary for us to discuand explain them. This period of time belongs to the students. They can ask any questions they have then we’ll discuabout these problems. I’ll make some complements if necessary. The purpose of this task is to inspire students’ “questioning spirit’’

Task 4consolidation

Language is learned by communicating. It’s my job to create an atmosphere for students to use the language. Here I design two activities.

Activity oneretelling

I will ask four students to retell the passage. I think it’s a good way to review what they have learned. Here I will show my students a short passage with key words and phrases missing, and then ask some students to retell the passage by filling the blanks.

Activity tworole play

Work in pairs. One student is Wang Kun and another is Wang Wei, choose a paragraph from the passage and use the information to make a dialogue.
